Oh so many to name but one of my favorites has always been “Oh Holy Night” and I am particularly liking the Chris Tomlin version this year as well (Andrea from www.undergraceandovercoffee.com has a wonderful video from YouTube, too – didn’t mean to steal your song, Andrea!! ) The visuals with this are beautiful and force me to just stop and marvel. Marvel at the birth. Marvel at the life. Marvel at the death. Marvel at the resurrection. Just marvel, marvel…
Yep, here’s one that makes my heart stop and the tears flow every time. Every time I hear it I think of a Christmas Eve service in Lebanon, Indiana during the Viet Nam War. True that I was not yet born but I think of something my mother shared – the year my Uncle Ron (dad’s brother) was in Viet Nam, the entire family sobbed and sobbed some more when this song was sung (see “December 8” to learn more about dad). I can see it, feel it, and hear it and though I wasn’t there I picture it in my mind every time it’s played.
Love every version of “Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas” but REALLY love Sara Groves’ version. LOVE HER. LOVE THIS SONG. Can I play it in July?
So many to name – my kids are loving “Away in a Manger” because of the Little People Nativity set – when you push the top of the stable, it plays a bit of the song. Of course we love Rudolph and “Jingle Bells”. As always, the Christmas season officially begins when JJ plays “Mele Kalikimaka” by Bing Crosby…Oh how I love that man…
May you have a blessed week of remembering why we celebrate. For Him. Thank you, thank you, thank you…
Oh Holy Night is my favorite too. Celine Dion has a wonderful version. So does Bing Crosby.
Yep, I love Celine’s version as well. Of course, Bing is King. Mele Kalikimaka is your brover’s favorite carol. Thanks for reading!!!
