I’m joining in on Critty Joy’s “Word Filled Wednesday” for the first time today…I love her site, friends. She is one faithful lady and I so enjoy her reflections. I have been blogging for three months now and just discovered that she did this meme each Wednesday so you can call me a slow-learner, yes. That would be accurate.
The idea is that you find a photograph that includes the word of God. I am cheating a little bit because while my image is not a Bible verse, it is one that grabbed me when I was looking at my options.
So often, we can get away from what we are really all about. The meetings. The studies. The debates. The splitting of hairs of “Do we do Santa Claus and the Easter Bunny?” (for the record, we do) and “Do we drink alcohol?” (we do that, too.) Sometimes we can forget what being a Christian truly entails. Myself included.
But when push comes to shove and all the chips are on the table, the bottom line is that He is about love. Plain and simple. Just that.
I did a Beth Moore study this past fall called “Measureless Love”. She illustrates God’s love for us in a way that reaches even the doubters. She uses science to show us how amazing it is that God even created a universe that would allow sustainable life to even exist. The basic premise was that we can’t even FATHOM the love He has for us.
And for me, this is really all I need. It serves as a model for how to love my children, makes me feel not so alone when I feel like I’m the sole-soldier, and softens my heart when I just want to scream at the very people I love the most.
Thank you, thank you for your love. Thank you, thank you for your grace. It’s truly just that simple.
wow — you are so creative!! I absolutely love this image!! : ) Thank you so much for sharing this – glad you joined in today! :)

I have done several Beth Moore studies….she is incredible. I would have gotten to go to her conference in September had I not been in labor! :)
This is a cool idea. I wish that I a.) was organized enough and b.)blogged on somewhat of a schedule to do something like that.

Wow – a Beth Moore conference. Didn’t know it existed – I can’t even imagine the fabulousness of that…I think what you were doing was well worth the miss though! :)
I love Beth Moore. Hers is the first Bible study I ever did, five years ago. It made my relationship with Christ so much more real, which made all of my other relationships even better.
One of things we are called to do as Christians is to love the unlovable. It’s so easy to love our babies, our husbands, our friends (okay, most days it’s easy, not everyday). But to really GET what God’s love is all about, we must love the people who get on our last nerve, who are mean, who are strange. The unlovable. Just as God loves us, even on OUR most unlovable days.
And you’re not a loser mom for forgetting St Patty’s day! I have kids in school, that’s what makes me remember!
Hope you enjoy your day with a sitter! What are you going to do? Something fun and for yourself, I hope.

You are so insightful. God is Love and if we can look past the legalities that’s just what we’d find – Love.
Thanks for sharing your heart.

I hear a kindred spirit in you! I just bought Beth’s latest book yesterday. :) She is doing a simulcast on April 24th. You can see if there is a church in your city that is broadcasting at Lifeway.com. I appreciate what you said about love. When we were younger we went to a church and had a group of friends we were close with. We no longer go there, nor do any of them I think, but there was a going away party for one of the couples that was moving to Australia. We found out that everyone drank. All the time we spent together no one was willing to share that part of their lives. I was just talking with my husband about that as we were heading to a new church. It is so important to me to be able to have authentic relationships that I do not have think I have to hide and pretend something that is not. I do drink sometimes, I do not get drunk, and I love Jesus and follow hard after him.
Yes, LeAnn, I have been told on more than one occasion that I do possess a kindred spirit. I take that as a compliment!
I just want to always be real. I am on a personal mission to debunk the typical stereotype of what a “typical Christian” is and I personally wave my freak flag proudly!
I do sometimes drink too much (if we are with friends and the wine is freely pouring and the conversation is fun and good) but don’t very often because I have found that I simply want to blow my brains out the next day when I am taking care of my five year old, my three year old, and my 20 month old. Now how’s that for being real? HA!
Thanks for stopping by my blog, LeAnn!
He is Love, without that we are nothing.
Amen – couldn’t agree more!
Welcome to WFW. As a photographer, you will enjoy it. A neat WFW ~ Blessings ~

Theresa, you made my day. Thank you, sweet one.
Lovely. Lovely.
I am going to Beth Moore’s leadership conference and normal conference next week. I am SO excited. I will let her know that you love her…and all of the other ladies that commented.
I can’t believe you have only been blogging for three months. You are so far ahead of where I was!
Oh my word, Tracy. You are one lucky girl!!!!! PLEASE be sure to tell us all about it when you get back. I might need to go to next year’s conference. Possibly leadership conference, too – I am taking a leadership position on within our church so maybe I would qualifiy! Thanks for telling her we LOVE her! :)
