Every now and then, I’m faced with serpents that creep in and try to derail what I’m committed to doing.

Like being in a healthy marriage and raising children to love God.  Those two things are the top two the serpents hate the most.

So when I have an argument with my husband or it feels like I’m totally screwing up as a parent, if the serpents are present, I can spiral downward pretty quickly.

Yes, you are probably going to get divorced.  Yes, your children will be screwed up for life and will need intense therapy.  Yes, you never should have had children in the first place.  Yes, you are not cut-out to be a wife.

Do you hear the lies in this?

And yet, sometimes, when I’m feeling that feeling of being trapped, I believe ’em.

But then, Jesus.

I lay my head on the kitchen table and ask Him to deliver me and to hold my thoughts captive. Shield me with His armor from the lies I have chosen to believe instead of the truth that is there for us all.

You are my offspring. (Acts 17:28)

My plan for you is good. (Jeremiah 29:11 and Romans 8:28)

I have loved you with an everlasting love. (Isaiah 31:3)

I chose you when I planned creation. (Ephesians 1:11-12)

You were not a mistake for all your days are written in my book. (Psalm 139:15-16)

And so when I feel the serpents coming with their slick ways and their defeating lies, I must remember my bullets of truth that are more powerful than those lies any day.

If you are feeling trapped, dear friend, or you feel like you aren’t significant or you aren’t enough of a mom or a wife or a whatever, take a moment to hear this love letter written to just you.

Then put ’em in your pocket and use ’em for bullets to kill those lying serpents…

This Multitude Monday, I thank you, Father, for:

661.  Your words of truth that are astoundingly powerful

662.  The people of OneVerse and those who support it – to get your truth into the hands of those who don’t have Bibles in their language

663.  Your all-encompassing power that reminds me who I am

664.  Creating me in your image

665.  Your plan – even when I have no idea what it might be

667.  The grace.  Yes.  That.

668.  Cuddle time in mama’s bed under the electric blanket

669.  Being a God who sees

670.  Not leaving nor forsaking this sometimes very lost daughter

This week, may you remember who you are.  May you remember He knows you better than you know yourself.  May you rest in His abundant grace.
