So. Wow. It’s summer.

While I love the less frantic schedule and the fact that I can sleep a bit later, I am finding there is much less time to get things done as far as writing goes. Most days, I’m just trying to keep up with the inhabitants of my house. All of them (husband and animals included in addition to the kids.)

Add this to the fact that after my wonderful day with Lysa Terkheurst last May, I now have a few changes to make to Heart Sisters due by the end of the month. Our solid, new release date is April 15, 2015. 4-15-15. Kinda fun.

All of this to say, I’m going to post short little tidbits of the random stuff swirling around my head (could be slightly scary) for the rest of the month so I can focus on Heart Sisters and keep up with the inhabitants.

Those of you who have “liked” my author page on Facebook have already read today’s free association because I posted it yesterday over there. However, it’s a message I’m so passionate about women understanding that I wanted to post it here as well.

I will be posting other fun stuff at the Facebook page so if you haven’t “liked” the author page yet, click here. If you don’t have Facebook, I’m working on a monthly newsletter that will be coming out soon as well. I’ll keep you posted!

In the meantime, here’s the free association swirling through my head as of late….

Today, let’s not give others the power to dim our lights. I have seen women shrink back and reduce their potential because someone has criticized them or made them feel “less than” in an attempt to “take them down a notch.” It makes my heart weep when others use their own brokenness to tear those they feel are a threat down and it makes my heart weep even more when the target of their fury responds how they want them to respond.

Sisters, there WILL be people who don’t like you just because you are you. Maybe they’re threatened by your physical beauty. Or your talent. Or your happy marriage. Or your you-name-it.

Jealousy is a two-headed serpent cloaked in evil and it’s a sin. Do you want someone else’s sin to determine your capabilities or do you want the One who gave you the capabilities in the first place to guide you?

Shine, girls. Shine. There will always be people who are committed to misunderstanding you. Let them. Move on and go serve the Kingdom.

“You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden. Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.” – Matthew 5:14-16
