One of my favorite songs is one by David Gray entitled “Say Hello Wave Good Bye” and what a year of “hellos” and “good byes” it has been! Upon reflecting over this past year, I want to say STOP!!!!! It’s just going too fast. Too fast. Wasn’t it just last year that I cradled my newborn baby girl as I freaked out while I wondered how on earth I could ever take care of her? Wasn’t it last month that Sawyer just started walking? Wasn’t Solomon born last week?

My little girl is growing up. My middleman is growing some wings and my baby is no longer a baby. So humor me as I share some of our “hellos” and “good byes” from this past year with you…

Hello to my “big boy” toddler…

Good Bye to my sweet, last baby…

Hello Strawberry Shortcake, A MILLION stuffed animals, Leapster 2, and American Girl…

Good Bye to the cheerleader craze (mostly goodbye…), princesses (sniff, sniff), and one syllable words…

Hello to a boy that can now talk and defend himself, a whole new world of trucks and construction vehicles, a heart that is developing into one that is compassionate, an intense love for his mama, and a big-boy bed…

Good Bye to mostly grunts and shrieks (well…maybe not completely…), baby toys, and his crib…

Hello to being able to even THINK about traveling with our brood…

Hello to lots of giggles, a strong, developing bond between siblings, TONS of pretend play, snacks galore, the excitement of a Disney trip, a getaway WITHOUT children for the grown-ups, three family weddings, and a hike through the Machu Piccu trail in Peru for JJ.

2010, I can already feel your joy.

OH…And a great big HELLO to our newest friend, Mateo Bealand Irazoqui, born 01-01-10 (isn’t that the coolest birthdate?). We wish for you peace, a love of Christ, and more giggles than cries. You are loved by so many. Welcome to a fabulous ride – we are honored to be part of your journey.
